What is problem gambling?
Problem gambling occurs when a person cannot resist the urge to gamble. During periods of stress, a person can become increasingly preoccupied with the desire to gamble. Ultimately, problem gambling interferes with the individual’s personal, family and work life.
Problem gambling may lead to
- Shortage of money
- Family breakdown
- Loss of work due to increased absence
- Borrowing money
- Emotional, psychological and physical stress
When is gambling a problem?
