Child Friendly Charter

Communities for Children is an Australian Government Initiative

Child Friendly Charter

Child/Family Friendly is when children are welcomed and families are supported by community, businesses or organisations while they go about their everyday tasks such as shopping, attending appointments, sport and entertainment.

Communities for Children’s goal is to ensure all services, businesses, organisations and the recreation and leisure sector provide child/family friendly environments.

To support all of community towards becoming more child/family friendly Communities for Children have created a Child Friendly Charter and Information Pack.

The Charter

  • Warmly welcome children and their families
  • Provide safe spaces for children to relax, play and learn
  • Provide a service that everyone can access
  • Respect children and their families at all times
  • Support our staff to have a healthy balance between work, voluntary and family activities
  • Welcome feedback from children and their families

The Charter reflects a selection of key features of Child/Family Friendly however there are many ways that children and families can be shown that they are valued and welcomed.

Each Child Friendly Charter Pack is individually tailored to provide services, businesses, organisations and the recreation and leisure sector the maximum support towards becoming Child/Family Friendly.

For recognition of being child/family friendly a poster and sticker saying ‘we are child friendly’ is available for display.
