Campaigns

Anglicare SA is engaged through various campaigns to help raise awareness, lobby for policy change and provide useful information that can help people to make positive changes in their lives. Current campaigns include:

Strong Community, Healthy State

Through our membership of the Association of Major Community Organisations (AMCO) and South Australian Council of Social Science (SACOSS), Anglicare has been an active participant in the ‘Strong Community, Health State’ (SCHS) campaign. The campaign is designed to strengthen the community service sector by ensuring employers and unions work together to build the sustainability and future of community services in South Australia. The campaign addresses workforce development, remuneration and security issues and the capacity of organisations to deliver services which can meet the needs of disadvantaged South Australians.

Information on SCHS and Anglicare’s input can be obtained from www.sacoss.org.au/campaign

You Can Create a Better State

‘You Can Create a Better State’ is an election campaign spearheaded by SACOSS to encourage South Australians to vote thoughtfully in the 2010 State election. The campaign picks up on five core themes central to the wellbeing of South Australians: child protection; concessions; housing; law and justice and social infrastructure and jobs.

National Child Protection Framework Implementation

Anglicare is a member of the National Coalition of Organisations Committed to the Safety and Wellbeing of Australia’s Children, which successfully advocated for the establishment of a National Framework for Protecting Australia’s Children, released in May 2009. The coalition will play an important role in the implementation of the framework by the federal and state/territory governments and input into many of the key strategies, including improving outcomes for children in and leaving care, and strengthening support services for vulnerable families.
